On Monday we went fossil hunting at the Penn-Dixie site in Hamburg |
James immediately figured out how to spot the little corals/trilobites and filled up his bucket |
Felix mostly filled his bucket with rocks. Kerplink, kerplank, kerplunk |
It was a little windy |
Everything we dug up was from the Devonian, so no T-Rex bones, unfortunately |
A hard day of excavation justifies an ice cream stop |
Felix-Vanilla and rainbow sprinkles. Owen-Cotton candy and chocolate chips (?) James-Banana and sprinkles |
Some of James' fossil treasures |
Corals, moss animals |
Cnidaria, and possibly some primitive squid |
He took an entire afternoon to build his LEGO "museum exhibit" |
He doesn't know yet that his mother has sworn these fossils are not going to be in the house permanently |
Clam shell fragments, brachiopods |
Owen's haul was also impressive, but we haven't let him get into them yet |
The full James collection |
From one of our many Bay Park hikes. We must always find a log for a snack spot |
It was a good year to get a sprinkler |
One of many Lake Ontario visits |
Owen learned how to climb the walls |
So this is how he spends a good bit of every day now |
The biker |
"I'm going to learn how to swim if it kills me" |
